The Los Alamos County Court Calendar
Forget the idea of one countywide calendar sheet for Los Alamos County. That is not how it works here. District Court and Magistrate Court cases run through the New Mexico state court system. Los Alamos Municipal Court keeps its own local hearing and clerk process. Two public starting points cover the state side. One is New Mexico Case Lookup. The other is the First Judicial District's court-hearing schedule page. Case Lookup can give you a public docket summary when a hearing shows up there. It stops short of document images, though.
A date alone never tells the whole story of a calendar line. If the matter is a Los Alamos County District or Magistrate case, the court location on the entry points you to the state-court route. A county-code case may go the other way. So may a traffic ticket, DWI, animal-control issue, or petty misdemeanor. In those, the citation or notice itself can send you to Municipal Court instead. The Municipal Court's hearing information page covers the procedures. The court posts no full searchable public municipal calendar.
Note: a future calendar line in Los Alamos County is just a scheduled setting. It does not prove the hearing happened, and it does not prove the case ended.
Los Alamos Court Calendar Channels
Start with the court named on your notice. Los Alamos Magistrate Court and First Judicial District Court both sit in Suite D at the Los Alamos Justice Center. Each court keeps its own docket. Municipal Court runs a separate clerk counter in Suite C at the same street address. For phone, fax, filing, and remote access details on the state side, the First District location and contact page is the place to look, and the same official page shows what each Los Alamos County court calendar channel offers.
Need a clerk to confirm a hearing date? The First District's jury office contact information page lists court contacts that help when a Los Alamos County docket search leaves a question open.
A contact list is not a live docket check. It still beats an old notice or a copied remote link. Current numbers on the official page keep a Los Alamos County court calendar question from going to the wrong office.

How to Find Your Court Date
A case number is the fastest start. Without one, search a party name plus the right court, case category, and date range. Never assume a Los Alamos County setting belongs to District Court. The address alone is not enough. The court on the citation, summons, notice, or prior order controls the next step.
- Search New Mexico Case Lookup for a public case summary, selecting the current court location rather than trying to derive a location from a case number.
- If registration is available, use re:SearchNM to open the case’s Hearings view and read the date, time, type, location, and result fields.
- Check the First Judicial District hearing-schedule navigation for a Los Alamos County District setting, then compare the calendar information with the case’s event stream.
- For a Municipal matter, use the county hearing page and call the Municipal Court Clerk. The reviewed county material does not promise a full public searchable calendar.
- For a Magistrate case, use the statewide search and call the Magistrate Court if no stable local calendar page answers the question.
- Visit the responsible clerk counter when a direct search is insufficient. State District and Magistrate services are in Suite D; the Municipal counter is in Suite C.
- For a historical calendar or minute record, send a focused request by the responsible clerk’s published email, fax, or mail route, or use the court IPRA portal with the case number and date range.
Call when the situation is uncertain. A same-day change, an unclear venue, a blank result, or a protected case all point to the phone. The courts post no public terminal, kiosk, printer, or daily printed calendar for Los Alamos County. Ask the clerk instead of assuming those services exist.
Los Alamos Court Calendar Details
Registered re:SearchNM access digs deeper than a basic public summary, with a hearing-focused view. Its Hearings area lists past, present, and future hearings. They usually appear in groups of up to ten with navigation. The official user guide lists the hearing columns. They run Date/Time, Hearing Type, Judge Name, Location, and Result. A hearing summary may add a comment. It can also show a reschedule or cancellation reason when one applies.
| View | Who uses it | Useful fields |
|---|---|---|
| Case Lookup | Public visitor | Public case summary and any displayed event information |
| re:SearchNM Hearings | Registered user | Date, time, hearing type, judge, location, result, and detail where allowed |
| My Hearings | Attorney or Pro Se profile | Date, attorney, case number, location, description, and hearing type filters |
My Hearings is tied to your profile. It cannot open a restricted case to public view. A hearing result is also narrower than a final case outcome, so check the later Events/Filings for an order, plea, judgment, or other disposition entry before assuming anything ended.
Note: A re:SearchNM hearing field can sit blank for a future setting. Confirm the date directly when attendance depends on it.
Reading a Court Setting
Read each Los Alamos County setting as fields, not as a verdict. Date and time tell you when the court planned to take up the matter. The hearing type tells what it planned to address. On a future setting, a blank Result is normal. An open case status says nothing about liability or guilt. Once a hearing has passed, compare its result and comments against the event stream around that date. That gives you the fuller picture.
| Date and time | The scheduled start of the setting. It is not proof that the hearing occurred. |
|---|---|
| Court location | The selected court and physical or remote location. District, Magistrate, and Municipal routes can differ. |
| Hearing type | The displayed procedural label, such as arraignment, motion hearing, status conference, trial setting, or sentencing. |
| Judge | The judicial officer shown for that setting. Assignments can change. |
| Result | The outcome of that hearing, if entered. It is not automatically the final case disposition. |
| Comment or reason | Procedural detail, reschedule reason, or cancellation reason when the record displays one. |
For a past hearing, read the exact label first. Then look for a minute entry or an order. A scheduling conference sets deadlines. A motion hearing takes up a named request, and a trial setting may still move. These distinctions keep a calendar label from being mistaken for the end of a case.
Los Alamos Court Setting Terms
Los Alamos County calendars lean on procedural terms. They describe what the court is taking up. Copy each label exactly as displayed, since names and abbreviations vary by court. If you must act on an entry, confirm its meaning with the responsible clerk. The clerk can give basic scheduling information but cannot offer legal advice.
- Arraignment
- A Municipal Court first appearance where the judge advises charges, possible penalties, rights, and asks for a plea.
- Status conference
- A case-management check-in. It does not by itself show a judgment, plea, or dismissal.
- Preliminary hearing
- A probable-cause hearing commonly associated with a felony track in Magistrate Court.
- Continued or reset
- A setting moved to a new date. The move itself does not resolve the case.
- Vacated
- A setting removed by court order. Read the related event or order for the reason and next step.
- Hearing result
- The result of that one setting, not necessarily the final disposition of the Los Alamos County case.
Resets, Continuances, and Cancellations
A reset or a continuance on a Los Alamos County docket tells you one thing. The hearing date moved. That is all. It is not a dismissal and not an outcome of any kind. When a date shifts, search both the old and the new setting in re:SearchNM if you have access. Then read the Events/Filings entries. A minute entry, scheduling order, or cancellation reason often explains what happened. A cancelled setting may carry its own reason field. If that field is blank, though, treat the reason as unknown rather than guessing.
Call to confirm any hearing that is close at hand. Los Alamos Magistrate Judge Catherine Taylor has a published remote route through the First District. It includes a Google Meet option and phone-join detail. But those links belong to specific settings and can change. Start from the official location and contacts page for current details. Then verify the connection with the court on the day of the hearing itself. A saved link or a copied PIN can go stale.
Some calendar and minute entries never reach the web. To request one, name the exact court, the case number, the date range, and the record you want. The First District takes records requests by email at sfedrequests@nmcourts.gov or fax at 505-455-8280. Its custodian mailing address is P.O. Box 2268, Santa Fe, NM 87504. The Magistrate side posts fax 505-661-6258 and a local filing group at lalmfilings-grp@nmcourts.gov. Confirm the right route before your request goes out. Municipal Court has used more than one email domain, so call ahead before sending anything sensitive.
Note: A Los Alamos County clerk confirmation matters most when a hearing is near. It also matters when a remote venue is unclear or the calendar involves a protected matter.
Los Alamos Court Date Changes
A docket entry that looks wrong deserves a second check. Start with the public summary for your Los Alamos County case. If access allows, open the registered hearing detail too. Compare what you see with the latest Events/Filings entry on the court record. A new scheduling order can carry the next date even while an older calendar entry still shows. Blank result? Unclear courtroom? Call the clerk directly.
The building split at the Los Alamos Justice Center matters here. A state court caller should use the District or Magistrate number for Suite D. A Municipal Court caller? Go to the clerk in Suite C. The court named on the filing, not the shared street address, decides which staff can actually confirm your court date.
What To Do If You Miss a Setting
Missed a Los Alamos County hearing? Call the court that set it right away. Ask the clerk for the current setting, the case status, and any order that has been entered. An online record that has not caught up does not make the problem go away. The clerk can explain scheduling and available court procedures. The clerk cannot tell you which legal choice to make.
Municipal warning. The Los Alamos Municipal Court says a missed appearance or failure to meet a court condition can lead to an Order to Show Cause, added charges, fines or fees, a bench warrant, and Motor Vehicle Division notification. Call the Municipal Court promptly at 505-662-8025 to confirm the case status and current hearing route.
For a District or Magistrate setting, call the state-court clerk line first. Read the docket's recent hearing and event entries too. A notice that leaves the court unnamed is a puzzle. Solve it before you dial. Work from the case number or citation to pin down the owner first. The New Mexico court finder can point you to the right court location.
Los Alamos Municipal Court Dates
Traffic tickets, DWI cases, animal-control violations, and petty misdemeanors in Los Alamos County land in Municipal Court. It runs its own county hearing track. That track sits apart from the District and Magistrate dockets. The court's public material walks through arraignments, trials, subpoenas, payment, probation, deferred sentences, and what happens if you miss a hearing date. What it does not offer is a full online calendar. So the practical route to a Municipal court date is your citation, your hearing notice, the county hearing page, or a call to the clerk.
That clerk sits at 2500 Trinity Drive, Suite C, Los Alamos, NM 87544, and the county lists 505-662-8025. Need a Magistrate date instead? Use the statewide case search, or call 505-662-2727. Is a setting same-day? Are you unsure which court holds the case? Confirm directly with that court before relying on anything else.
One more thing worth knowing. The court named on your Los Alamos citation controls which calendar route applies. District, Magistrate, and Municipal services all sit on the same street, yet each keeps its own route.
